In het januari nummer van de Hoogtelijn is een reisverslag van de Cairngorms ski-toer gepubliceerd. Het relaas van deze tocht is nu ook te lezen op de www.toerskien.nl.

Eind november geeft berg- en skigids Edward Bekker op uitnodiging van een aantal ski- en outdoorwinkels een serie dialezingen over off-piste skiën en lawinekunde.
Dus als je alvast lekker gemaakt wilt worden voor het aankomende winterseizoen, collegaskiliefhebbers / bergsporters wilt ontmoeten en heel veel mooie powdershots wilt bekijken van heli-, toer- en off piste skiën in o.a. Canada, de Noorse Lyngenalps, het Zweedse Kebnekaisegebied, La Grave en Chamonix, kom dan naar een van deze avonden/middagen!

The online Route planner is now downloadable. After entering the waypoint information, this excel sheet calculates the trip time and the risk. You can change several parameters, for example, your climbing speed or alarm level and see how it influence the trip time or the avalanche risk.

Since last season, 15 new backcountry skiing book have been published. Read the description and get an complete overview of all available literature. The library contains 90 titles in total!

The Dutch “Skitoerencommissie” exist 40 years.

To celebrate this special anniversary the committee will organise an Indoor Backcountry Ski Championship. This event will combined with the annual “Toerendag” and held on the 5th of November at SnowWorld.

Juf is Europe's highest (2126 meter) village inhabited year-round. The Swiss village is situated in the Östlicher Alpen Nordhang, about 21 km West of Sant Moritz. An ideal base camp for a week touring in the surrounding area.

The tourplan has been enriched, corrected and extended with alternative routes. Now you have various options ranging from difficulty level AD to S, you can stay overnight in an unguarded hut and you can extend the route with an extra touring day as well.

The Tuxer Alps in Tyrol are a part of the Central Alps between "Wipptal and Zillertal". It is separated from the "Zillertaler Alps by the "Tuxer Joch" (2338 m). The highest elevations are the Lizumer Reckner (2886 m), Geier (2858 m), Rastkogel (2762 m), Hirzer (2725 m) and Glungezer (2677 m). This tour plan describes a 7 days round trip in this area.

The backcountry skiers behind Toerskien.nl are working on a alp traverse project. Before we did the Bedretto, the Lauteraar tour and this year we can offer you the tour plan of the Urner haute route. This tour was the most impressive part so far. Have a look at the pictures and see for your self. The DVD of this tour will be available soon.

This tour guides you trough the most interesting part of the Cairngorms in 5 days. These mountains are located in Scotland, nearby Aviemore. Touring in the High lands can be quit rough. You might have to deal with Strong wind, poor visibility an leak of snow. Also the huts (bothies) aren’t very comfortable. All together, demanding but rewarding as well.

The latest GPS models, for example the Garimin 60C(S), are more sensitive. The battery live is considerably longer and they do have a map installed. But how about buying your GPS in the state (lesss expensive)? Do I get the right map or can I buy the right map afterwards?
